Despite the ever-increasing role of the computer in the work I create, there often comes a time when there is no substitute for the traditional pencil, pen, or paintbrush. I have been drawing for some time--ever since I discovered that a pencil was useful for something other than stabbing (I still regard it as a highly effective poking implement, however).

My subject matter tends toward science fiction and fantasy when left to my own devices. I have wondered on occasion if I became an illustrator for the sole purpose of making a justifiable productive activity out of my daydreaming habit.
